The method for calculating the size of periodontalwound and periodontal inflammatory burden was developed to serve as a tool for dental professionals to better illustrate the importance of periodontal disease to patients and also for the rough assessment of the risk for cardiovascular complications due to periodontal disease. The program also allows analysis of changes in the size of the periodontal wound through the duration of treatment and after treatment. HOW TO USE THE PROGRAM
Each licence contains an assembly of 4 periodontal wound measurements for 1 patient
The first measurement: should be entered at first periodontal examination
The second measurement: 2-3 months after initial periodontal treatment
to evaluate the efficacy of treatment
The third measurment: 1-6 months after periodontal surgical treatment
(to evaluate the efficacy of surgery) or during maintenance phase
The forth measurment: during maintenance phase

THE PROGRAM PERIODONTALWOUND™
In order to measure the size of the periodontal wound in your oral cavity, we developed a Method for evaluation of the periodontal wound and also an application PERIODONTALWOUND. By using the application PERIODONTALWOUND the program measures and outlines the size of the wound and inflamed surface in the oral cavity caused by periodontal disease. According to the size of the inflamed surface, the program also shows the patient’s risk for cardiovascular complications. However, this risk does not mean that the patient will develop one of the cardiovascular diseases or compliacations. It means that the patient has a higher risk of developing a cardiovascular disease comparing to someone who doesn’t have periodon tal disease. Somone who has a medium risk for cardiovascular complications due to periodontal disease has a similar risk for cardiovascular complications as someone who is a smoker.
THE SIZE OF THE PERIODONTAL WOUND
The Method for evaluating the size of periodontal wound can represent a tool for a better twodimensional presentation of the surface that periodontal disease effects and a better evaluation of the risk that periodontal disease represents for systemic health, above all, for cardiovascular complications.

With that the program also shows in which risk group for cardiovascular complications you fall. However, we would like to point out that this risk does not mean that you will get one of the cardiovascular diseases. It just means you have a higher risk of getting a cardiovascular disease comparing to someone who doesn’t have periodontal disease.
